Clinical Iridology began with a Hungarian Medical Doctor in the early nineteenth century named Dr. Igantz von Peczely. Working on the surgical ward of a college hospital afforded him an opportunity to observe the irides of patients after accidents, and preceding and following surgery. A study of the changes in the eye coincided with their injuries, surgery or illnesses, and this convinced Dr. von Peczely that there was a relationship between the iris and the rest of the body. He was certain that the iris mirrored tissue changes of the various organs.
